I am a highly organised individual and pride myself on prioritising the safety and welfare of the children within my care as well as helping each child to develop socially and emotionally. I am extremely kind and caring with a firm but fair disposition. I approach everything with a can do attitude and possess good interpersonal skills which enable me to enjoy working with children of all ages and levels of ability.
I have experience of working with children from the ages of six months to eleven years. I attended a Montessori School until the age of twelve and strongly believe in developing each child’s independence and self- esteem through child led activities and interests.
Career Summary
September 2003 - 2005 Primrose Independent School – Teaching Assistant
I worked for two years as a teaching assistant with children aged 4-5 years old. I assisted in teaching reading, Maths, Literacy, Handwriting, Science, Geography, History and Art. I also helped to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
September 2005 – Primrose Independent School – Nursery Class Teacher
July 2007 I was promoted to nursery class leader in 2005 where I was in charge of three other staff members and the care of children aged 18 months to three years. My duties included record keeping, planning, observing the development of each child, organising play and learning as part of the Early Years Curriculum. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as nursery room leader, it gives me great pleasure to watch children as they develop and learn, knowing that I have played a part in their achievements.
August 2007- Sole Charge Nanny
August 2008 I worked as a sole charge nanny looking after two babies in a nanny share who were 9 months old and one year old respectively when I started. I was responsible for all the babies needs such as feeding, changing, emotional, social and physical development. I got on very well with both families, we were able to always communicate effectively.
September 2008- Channing Junior School – Teaching Assistant
July 2009 I worked at Channing as a teaching assistant in the reception class with children aged 4-5 years old. I assisted the class teacher with the day to day running of the classroom, setting up for activities, taking a group of children for set lessons, recording observations in accordance with the early years profiles.
September 2009- Sole Charge Nanny
Present I am currently working part time as a nanny for a family with two boys aged 2 and four years old. I am responsible for their day to day needs such as providing healthy meals, taking them to various play centers, singing groups, the farm, library and other interesting places. I like to interact positively with the children encouraging polite manners and positive behavior.
