During my two years at Petroc College I completed 800 hours work experience in four different early years’ settings:Pynes Infant School 5-6 Years
Rainbows Day Nursery 0-3 years and 3-5 years
Special Needs Placement at Pathfields 5-8 Years
During my work experience I had to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate my professional competence, as well as be regularly assessed. My evidence included formal observations, which were interpreted against the relevant and appropriate curriculum to see if they are achieving with the norms of their age, and how they can be supported if necessary.
It also included a variety of activities in which would be relevant for developing their social, emotional, physical or intellectual development.
I have been planning and consulting my activities with my supervisor and ensured that I had consent from the child’s parent. From the activities I then undertook observations and created Individual Learning Plans from this, to help and support the child’s development. I then reflected my practice to see what I can improve on and to find out the positives and negatives.
I adapted my behavior for the age of the child and ensured that any activities are appropriate for their age and ability.
Throughout my experiences I have ensured that all the children are included and that their individual needs are catered for, so they will not be excluded.
I have also covered Pediatric first aid in my course.
I am currently working at Forda holiday lodges and cottages. I work as part of the housekeeping team every Saturday. I am looking for a Childcare job in the ages between 0-8 years.
I am an outgoing person and I love working with children.
I am able to drive and am able to be flexible with any hours that are available. I am very trustworthy and a hard working individual, I am motivated and I am able to work as part of a team. I am a fast learner and I love to learn new skills.
