As part of my college course, I undertook placements at Bright Sparks Day Nursery, Rossington, Doncaster - my previous employer – and Little Learners Day Nursery, part of Doncaster School for the Deaf. To help me with my placement at Little Learners Day Nursery I also did a Sign Language course alongside my childcare course. This enabled me to communicate with the children and staff around the nursery a lot better.
Following completion of my College Course I was successful in securing employment at Bright Sparks Day Nursery, Doncaster. I completed my NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Learning and Development in January of this year. Through working at Bright Sparks Day Nursery I have gained experience working with children who have additional needs. These include hearing impaired children, children with autism and children who come from a poor social background
I have also undertaken numerous other training which include the following –
Makaton for beginners
Infant feeding and Weaning
Child Protection
Valuing Children’s Creativity
First Aid
In May 2009 i was promoted to baby room supervisor.
