Hello
My name is Sion Jones I am currently living in Tondu near Bridgend. I went to a boarding school in Somerset for the past 10 years and decided to come home and study in Bridgend College for my level 3 in childcare and education.
I qualified in 2009 and I am currently working in Caerau school in the Action for Children Flying start project with 2 – 3 years old and i really enjoy my job and I have been working there for almost a year and a half and this has given me a lot of experience working with children and has made me better as a practitioner, I have also been on different placements around the Bridgend area and have worked from the ages of 1 to 8.
I have lots of ideas of activities that can be done with children of all ages and really enjoy just having loads of fun with children and really enjoy it when a child is learning new things while playing and having fun, I am more than willing to bring my own resources and for the older children I really enjoy doing homework with them and then fun time such as football, dressing up or whatever they want to do I’m not picky.
I am a confident character and a hard worker and always want to give that 110% at everything I do, i really enjoy working with children and am always very kind gentle and respectful to children and the parents I am non-judgmental and will work with any children and parents from any background or disability.
Some parents I know have some difficulties about males working with children but I can honestly say that I am just like any other nursery nurse if not better because I know that some children don’t have that male role model in their life’s and I feel proud I can be that male role model to children.
I have been CRB checked and have completed my food hygiene and first aid course for children and have all evidence to prove this and can get a reference if one is requested. I am respectful of parent’s homes and will leave the place how I found it and will always tidy up after myself.
In Caerau School i have gained a lot of experience through working there. Working in Caerau has taught me a lot about children’s development and how important it is that children get a stimulating environment that they can learn in. I have also had a lot of experience with children with behavioural difficulties and know different techniques in getting children to calm down and learn that their behaviour has consequences. I have worked with children with speech and language difficulties and have got a lot of activities that can be used to support children. I have also worked with children with physical difficulties and really enjoyed supporting a child and seeing them develop.
I have worked closely with the foundation phase and know a lot about children’s development and have a lot of knowledge in fun activities that can be done with children of all ages.
I have good mathematical and literacy skills can help a child with his maths English or even science homework I enjoy a challenge, I am more than capable of changing a nappy because I do it every day work. I have a full comprehensive paediatric first aid certificate and know what to do if any medical emergency arises. I know the importance of food hygiene and how to prepare food correctly and safety.
