I currently live in Sandwell and work in a secondary special school and college in Oldbury.
It has always come naturally to me to work with children, and because of this after leaving school in the late 80's I then went onto college to obtain my Nursery Nursing diploma - NNEB.
At the age of 18yrs old I worked as a 1 to 1 assistant with a special needs child in a mainstream junior school, when the post was no longer funded I continued to work across the school in the infant and junior department.
Some time later in 1992 this position finished and I went to work at a special school for students with severe learning and physical difficulties and have been there ever since, although we are now based on a new site I still believe that the school is still a wonderful place to work and the role of a Learning Suuport Practitioner has not changed much since first working with the children.
It is a very demanding but equally a rewarding job to do, throughout my time in school I have kept abreast of training and school policies and implement them on a daily basis.
During my time as an LSP I have had the opportunity to have also worked for 5yrs as a class tutor in the 16-19yrs dept, I was responsible for planning and delivering lessons, making student assessments and my main role was to arrange work experience placements for all students in the dept to experience the world of work.
My daughter is grown now and so does not demand so much of my spare time and so I'm looking for evening and weekend babysitting work for extra cash to afford me a more comfortable lifestyle,
